Argentine Film at the 22nd Washington Jewish Film Festival
The 22nd Washington Jewish Film Festival( WJFF) will present 36 Righteous Men ( Los 36 Justos), by Argentine filmaker Daniel Burman. WJFF favorite Burman (2010 Visionary Award, Waiting for the Messiah WJFF 2001, Family Law WJFF 2006, Lost Embrace WJFF 2010) records his first documentary, turning the camera on his own personal exploration of discovery and identity, a skeptical secular Jew amidst observant believers.

36 Righteous Men
(Los 36 Justos)

Every year, a group of Orthodox Jewish friends from Argentina journeys 2,500 miles to Russia, Ukraine and Poland to visit the graves of the 36 Righteous Men, the Tzadikim, who are said to live on earth to do good anonymously in each generation.

about the Festival

The 22nd Washington Jewish Film Festival presents new and award-winning films from around the world. This year’s Festival focuses on two special themes. One is “Jewish Film | Women Filmmakers” and includes presentation of WJFF Visionary Award to DC filmmaker Aviva Kempner (Yoo Hoo Mrs. Goldberg,The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg). The other special focus is called “Jews at Work” and includes films about the life and work of architect Eric Mendolson (Incessant Visions) and dancer Anna Halprin (Breath Made Visible).
